The Development of an Academic Board Game for Nursing Education

Abstract

Board game has already been used in the area of so-called "edutainment" which tries to connect game with education. Board game is, as many of us know well, a game in which more than two participants, vis-a-vis, compete their performance skills using such physical tools as board, cards and tiles. For this reason, many researchers have explained of the educational value which board game has. For this study, a quiz game has been selected which is easily applicable to nursing education for the purpose of developing a board game named "We’re studying." For the development of this game, study goal has been set up and 80 percent of the participants in the class have shown positive reaction. Based upon this result, we have been convinced that the board game "We’re studying" has sufficient applicability to nursing education.
